Roughhousing: 3 Wrestling Games Your Kids Will Beg For!

Are you looking for a great roughhousing activity to enjoy with your child? Well, look no further! I’ve got three fantastic games that promise loads of laughter and unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

In my previous article, we delved into the importance of parent-child roughhousing and went through some excellent tips from the play therapist Lawrence Cohen.

Today, we’re diving headfirst into our family’s top three wrestling games – the ones my three children absolutely LOVE.

The best part? These games are for everyone! Moms, dads, boys, and girls of all ages are welcome to join the fun.

So, get ready for an eruption of giggles and let’s jump right into the action!

1. The Sock Game:

Straight from Larry Cohen’s fantastic book Playful Parenting, this one’s an absolute hit that my boys and I can’t get enough of. Here’s how it goes down:

“Each person tries to take off everyone else’s socks while keeping his or her own”.

It’s an absolute riot with just two players, but when you toss in a child or two, it quickly escalates into a hilarious mayhem.

2. The Dead Horse Game

This wild game, courtesy of my sisters, is perfect for those who are new to roughhousing. Here’s the play-by-play:

An adult transforms into a horse, and a child takes on the role of a fearless cowboy riding the horse. Suddenly, the horse dramatically “gets shot” and collapses in a theatrical, Shakespearean manner right on top of the cowboy. Now, the cowboy’s mission is to make a daring escape from beneath the “dead horse.”

3. Rodeo (The Crazy Bull) Game

Ever tried to conquer a mechanical bull at a funfair? Well, here’s your chance to recreate this fun experience at home!

In this game, you become the bull, and your little rider embarks on a mission to maintain their seat on the back of the bucking bull for as long as they can. Of course, safety comes first, so ensure the play area is both safe and adequately padded.

These games are absolute gems, and I guarantee that your kids will be in fits of laughter, begging for more. And guess what? You’ll be having a blast, too!

Just remember to keep the wrestling rules in mind, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

So, get ready to dive into the world of roughhousing and create lasting memories with your child that you’ll both cherish forever!

Loads of love,

Irina
